The Deans Primary School Swinton
Working closely with the school we set about a full development of their extensive grounds.
It was practically a blank slate with the usual area of tarmac and grass sports pitch.
15 weeks later we now have a track surrounding the pitch and dividing it into two areas.
Within this sits a wildlife pond and shelter. A growing area with biodome, fire pit, raised beds, orchard, compost bays. A 10-meter pollination bed with a central raised platform and ramped access. A lookout, den building area, and stone circle with shade sail. A large timber outdoor classroom/cabin. a shelter with seating. A forest schools area with shelter, raised platforms, den building, fire-pit, and willow beds. The early years’ spaces were rebuilt…it’s a considerable list.
Very importantly we greatly upped the planting across the grounds. There are areas of long grass, wildflower beds, and a great variety of native species trees.
By the time of completion, the groundworks had started to soften and imbed and the seeded earth mounds had a healthy carpet of green.
We look forward to seeing the plants and community thrive over the next few years.
